Early at Coate

Having again woken at just gone five and laying awake until half-six I got up and went for an early morning walk at Coate. I parked on Dayhouse Lane and made a circuit via the flood water both hides and back. A small flock of Linnets were near to the farmhouse and on the wet meadows were a number of Pied Wags and Mipits and a single Snipe flew up ahead of me. Very quiet on both lakes with very few ducks around. Mainly Tufted with a few Teal, a handful of Pochard and just two Shoveler. A couple of Great Spots were heard drumming and one was seen. In all i managed thirty-six species.
