Liddington Again

On the way home from dropping my daughter at work in Marlborough I stopped of at the church in Ogbourne St George. Other than flyover pigeons and corvids there were no birds seen. Four Speckled Wood butterflies were chasing eachIMG_2062 (1024x767) other around. A quick look in at Draycot found the Little Owl in its usual tree. Then it up to Liddington Hill for a late walk. A couple of Chiffchaffs calling as expected and a flock of around eighty gulls on one of the fields. Again mainly Herring with a few Black-headed and three LBB. Further on a Buzzard was sat in a tree and had attracted the attention of a number of Crows. There were plenty of gulls heading towards the Water Park, some singly but mainly in small flocks.

As I walked along the shelter belt on the field margin three Yellowhammers flew out. I decided to stop and watch for a few minutes and was rewarded with good views of three Whinchats. They were briefly alighting on various plants before moving on. They finally disappeared into the belt, presumably to roost.
