You can bird anywhere

Mainly a decorating day for me with no plans to go out birding. However! First job was a trip to the recycling centre at Cheney Manor. While I was loading the car five Blackbirds were squabbling in the road. A Robin was chipping away and the flock of House Sparrows were heard. At the tip I saw a couple of LBB Gulls. On the way back I made a couple of short stops. The new canal at Whichelstowe was first with Grey Wagtail, Mallard and Little Grebe seen. Next was Wroughton reservoir with two more Little Grebe, Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Coot and a single Cygnet. Back at home there were a couple of Pied Wagtails on the house roof and over the road more farming activity on the field meant a mixed flock of around a thousand gulls. Also a lone Dunnock in the garden. On the dog walk, Meadow Pipit, Kestrel and Blue Tit. In all twenty-four species were seen, not bad for a non-birding day.
