It would have been a shame not to go out as it was a rare nice evening. Steve and I drove down to Knighton in the Kennet Valley. A quick stop at the river bridge in Ramsbury gave good views of several large Trout lurking in the fast flowing water. A short walk at Knighton was pleasant. We were greeted by the ubiquitous sound of a Song Thrush. A couple of Chiffchaff were singing and the same of Sedge Warbler. A good number of Common Spotted Orchid were in one of the meadows. Both Green and Greater Spotted Woodpecker were heard and we had a brief view of a Barn Owl. There were many Moths on the wing and one Large Bat was seen but not identified.
