Mothers day birding

Went up to London today to see my Mum. Stopped in at Chilton Foliat on the way but not much to see. A Goldfinch on the feeder was the only bird seen in Mum’s garden. After a cup of tea we headed to Osterley Park for a walk.We had great views of two Green Woodpeckers.  A few ducks on the lake included Shoveler,  Gadwall and Mandarin. Plenty of Parakeets flying around and also nine Redwing in the horses field.  Quite an unusual sight were several coot sitting on the grass. Although more common in London than they used to be, four Buzzards thermalling together  was a good sighting. Sparrowhawk and Kestrel were also seen. Another unusual sight was that of several Coot sat on the grass near the lake.

I left for home at two o’clock and as usual, saw several Buzzard and Red Kite along the motorway. Next was a walk on Liddington Hill with the dog. Very quiet on the bird front with eight Fieldfare and two Redwing plus three each of Linnet and Yellowhammer being the best of the ten species seen. Nice to see were several Lambs in the fields at Folly Farm.
